Why I Am Running for (Town of Whitby)
- I am running for school board trustee because, as a DDSB parent of two high school daughters, I see the challenges families face and believe our schools must do better.
- Like many parents, I want schools that get the basics right. I want students to be confident in math, literacy, science, technology, and critical thinking. I want schools to be safe, respectful, and focused on learning. And I want our children to graduate ready for real life.
- Too many families feel that the system is not moving fast enough.
- Students with special needs are waiting too long for support. Families are looking for clearer answers about gifted programming, bullying, absenteeism, mental health, and preparation for the future of work.
- Durham families deserve schools that strengthen the basics, support students sooner, communicate clearly with parents, ensure safe classrooms, and prepare every child for a future beyond graduation.

About Me
Srikanth Mylavarapu, Leadership Rooted in Real-World Experience
My educational and professional background has prepared me to bring a practical, analytical, and future-focused approach to the trustee role.
I hold an MBA specializing in International Business and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. I have also worked as an Analyst in the financial services sector, where I developed experience in data analysis, process improvement, financial systems, stakeholder communication, and problem-solving.
That experience connects directly to my campaign agenda.
My Engineering Background Supports Stronger Math, Science, and Technology Education
My Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering gives me a strong appreciation for math, science, technology, logic, and disciplined problem-solving.
Engineering teaches you that foundations matter. If the basics are weak, students struggle with more advanced concepts later.
That is why I am committed to strengthening math foundations, supporting STEM learning, and preparing students for a world shaped by technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation.
My MBA Helps Me Understand the Future Students Are Entering
My MBA in International Business gives me a broader understanding of the global economy, changing career paths, competition, innovation, and the skills young people will need to succeed.
Students today are not just preparing for local opportunities. They are entering a connected, fast-changing world.
That is why I believe schools must do more to prepare students for modern careers, financial decision-making, entrepreneurship, skilled trades, technology, and the future of work.
My Financial Services Experience Strengthens My Commitment to Financial Literacy
Working in financial services has shown me how important financial knowledge is in everyday life.
Too many young people leave school without fully understanding budgeting, debt, credit, interest rates, saving, taxes, investing basics, or long-term financial planning.
Financial literacy is not optional. It is a life skill.
As trustee, I will advocate for practical financial literacy education that helps students make informed decisions and build a stronger future.
I will bring a practical, solutions-focused approach to the trustee table: listen to families, ask the right questions, review the evidence, improve the process, and focus on results for students.
